Summer Reading List

Hello all! I know I haven't posted much lately, but I promise, the next book review (Eclipse By: Stephanie Meyer) will be up shortly. Until then I thought I'd post what I'd like to try to read this summer:

The City of Ember-Jeanne DePrau
The People of Sparks-Jeanne DePrau
The Prophet of Yonwood-Jeanne DePrau

'Salem's Lot-Stephen King
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil-John Berendt
Interview With the Vampire-Anne Rice
The Talisman-Stephen King and Peter Straub
Black House-Stephen King and Peter Straub

Gathering Blue-Lois Lowry
Messenger-Lois Lowry
A Series of Unfortunate Events-Lemony Snicket
The Chronicles of Narnia-C.S. Lewis
A Fine Dark line-Joe R. Lansdale
Gone-Michael Grant

Now, I know that this list alone looks excesive, but you also have to figure in that I didn't put the "series" books in. The Keys to the Kingdom consists of seven books, as does The Chronicles of Narnia. A Series of Unfortunate Events is comprised of thirteen. So, my list is 54 books long. I've also sorted them (on a seperate piece of paper) into what's top priority and what's not, because many of these books, I would just like to re-read.
If you've read any of these books, tell me your opinion of them int the comments below. Thanks!

  1. o my gosh, read gone first! and then hunger, and then lies!
warning: a series of unfortunate events is good for the first 5 or 6, then it just gets tedious. and i don't know if the giver+ companions are on the re-read list, but if they're not, read them after the Gone series. messenger is a real tear-jerker

  2. City of Ember,The Talisman, Black House, Eragon series, The Giver, Gathering Blue, and Messenger are all pretty good.

Lisey's Story is AMAZING (my favorite Stephen King book). Read it second.

The Book of Lost Things IS THE MOST AMAZING BOOK EVER! READ THAT FIRST!

  4. you should read This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness by Frank Peretti. They're adult novels, and it takes some major brain power to understand them, but it's well worth the effort. the writing is fantastic.
